Huerfano County officials are monitoring an active wildfire burning northwest of Westcliffe in the Wet Mountain Valley area (reported as the “299 Fire” / Buttermilk Fire).

At this time, the fire is not within Huerfano County, but smoke and travel impacts may affect areas along Highway 69, particularly north of Walsenburg toward the county line.
