Huerfano County Parks & Recreation manages the county’s parks, community centers, and youth and adult sports leagues.

Facilities
The softball and baseball fields at Fiesta Park are intended for softball and baseball, but are also sometimes used for youth soccer. The softball field is lit for night games and has restrooms available for much of the year. If you are a non-profit in the area interested in being a food concessionaire during league play, or would like to hold a tournament at the softball fields, please email Parks and Recreation Specialist Celena Valdez at [email protected].
Fiesta Park also has a pavilion that can be rented for special events (Pavilion Policy) and horseshoe pits that can be used casually or for tournaments.
The gymnasium and conference room at the Huerfano County Community Center in Walsenburg can be rented for events including weddings, funerals, craft sales, conferences and the like. Please use the Rental Application to apply to use the Community Center. If your event will include alcohol, please also complete the Open Container Application and review the Open Container Rules, as an application must be made to the Board of County Commissioners.
The Community Center is also home to groups that serve our community: Trinidad State College provides GED services at the center.

Youth Sports
Youth sports registration is completed online through the Youth Sports Registration Portal. Interested in volunteering as a coach? Email Celena Valdez at [email protected].
Registration opens April 1 each year. The season begins in mid-May.

Youth kickball is coming this fall! Registration and season dates will be announced soon.
Adult Sports
Huerfano County has a long tradition of adult sports leagues. Adult league registration is handled directly through the Parks and Recreation office. To sign up, email Celena Valdez at [email protected].

Special Events
Do you have a vision for a special event but need space to hold it? From archery shoots to ultra marathons to fundraisers for youth sports, we will work with you to provide space and some services, and we will help promote your event within our contacts. Fiesta Park is available for softball tournaments and fundraisers, and Parks & Recreation also hosts our annual golf tournament. To get started, email Celena Valdez at [email protected].
