Huerfano County Code

Huerfano County has a adopted a County Code consisting of ordinances as well as general and permanent resolutions.  The Code is updated as new ordinances and resolutions are passed.  The landing page lists ordinances and resolutions that have been passed, but not yet incorporated into the code.  This information is provided as a public service and updates will be made periodically. It is the user’s responsibility to verify the information for timeliness and accuracy.

County Ordinances

Ordinance Adoption Process

Pursuant to CRS Section 30-15-405 and 406, county ordinances are introduced and passed on first reading at a Board of County Commissioners meeting and after notice has been provided in the newspaper, the Board of County Commissioners will adopt an ordinance at a second and final reading. 

Effective Dates

If adopted as an emergency ordinance, the ordinance will take effect immediately. Otherwise, all ordinances go into effect 30 days after publication after the second and final reading.

Ordinances Listed in the Order Adopted

Ordinance 20-01: An ordinance adopting a penalty for any person convicted of illegal dumping of solid waste in Huerfano County and adopting a reward for individuals providing information that leads to the successful conviction of a person committing the act of illegal dumping. Effective August 21, 2021.

Ordinance 21-01: Huerfano County Noise Ordinance. Effective July 17, 2021.

Ordinance 22-01: Huerfano County Burn Ordinance. Effective August 20, 2022.

Ordinance 23-01: Huerfano County Marijuana Licensing Regulations.  Effective February 4, 2024
