Fiesta Park: The softball and baseball fields at Fiesta Park are, naturally, intended for softball and baseball, but are also sometimes used for youth soccer. The softball field is lit for night games and has restrooms available for much of the year. If you are a non-profit in the area interested in being a food concessionaire during league play or would like to hold a tournament at the softball fields please contact the Recreation Coordinator Lester Berry at lberry@huerfano.us. Additionally, there is a pavilion that can be rented for special event (Pavilion Policy) as well as horse shoe pits that can be used casually or for tournaments.
Huerfano County Community Center: The gymnasium and the conference room at the Huerfano County Community Center in Walsenburg can both be rented for events including weddings, funerals, craft sales, conferences and the like. Please use this form (Rental Application) to apply to use the community center. If your event will include alcohol please also use this form (Open Container Application) and read over these rules (Open Container Rules), as an application must be made to the board of county commissioners. Cuchara Mountain Park: While work is ongoing at the Cuchara Mountain Park to expand operations it is a wonderful place for hiking, disc golfing, mini-golfing, accessing the National Forest and when winter sledding, tubing and limited skiing options. The Day Lodge can be rented for events, however keep in mind, it has no kitchen space and limited water access. Please use this form (CMP Rental Application) to apply to use the Day Lodge. Adult Sports: Did you know that Huerfano County has a long tradition of adult sports leagues? From Mens, Womens and Co-ed Softball to Womens and Co-ed Volleyball to new sports like cornhole and pickleball. Outside groups: Did you know that the Huerfano County Community Center is also the home of groups that serve the community? The Council of Governments uses a portion of the building to make and serve meals for seniors in our community, while Trinidad State College provides GED services.
Special events: Do you have a vision for a special event but need space to hold it in? From Archery shoots to Ultra Marathons to fundraisers for youth sports we will work with you to provide space and some services and will help promote it within our contacts.
