Good afternoon,
Otero County Health Department (OCHD) is pleased to announce that we will be re-engaging the Southeast Colorado Coalition on substance use disorder. We have opted to name this coalition SECCSUD in moving forward.
This coalition was initially formed within the HRSA grant that kick-started a robust SUD program within OCHD. The information that we were able to collect from this coalition was truly invaluable and we feel that we have gathered enough from those meetings that we are excited to make some modifications and continue to move into the future with this concept.
We are truly grateful to HRSA and TSRG for the opportunity that this coalition provided to our community, and wish to use that opportunity as a springboard into the future so that we may continue these conversations to further guide the innovation of how we proceed in moving forward to better our communities.
Having said that…
Southeast Colorado, we need you back at the table! If we are to have any hope of making progress in these complicated matters, it will take a village. We need to have all voices heard so that we can work together collaboratively to move the needle.
Following lots of research and online polls, in the past the coalition seemed to have arrived on the 4th Wednesday of the month being a great fit for most; with noon being the easiest to fit into schedules. In that spirit, we will use that as our initial model and have the first meeting on Wednesday, June 24 at 12:00PM.
Location TBD, and we do respectfully request the courtesy of an RSVP as attendance will help us in determining a location, and also allow us to ensure having enough lunch for all those that would like to participate in person.
We will keep the agenda very light in the first meeting, as we wish to go around the room and re-introduce ourselves and what it is that we do. We also want to use this initial meeting to guide the direction of future meetings, as we want all engaged parties to take ownership… as simply put, we wish to create a coalition that is “ours” and belongs to everyone in Southeast Colorado.
All voices need to be heard for this to be successful.
Please reply to this email by Wednesday, June 03 if you plan to attend so that we can coordinate lunch and choose a location best suited for the size of the group. Virtual attendance will be an option for anybody unable to travel or attend in person, but please make to sure to specify in your RSVP whether your intent is to attend in person or virtually.
Thank you all for everything that you do. Please consider joining us so that we can all stand up and be counted together in the hopes of creating a better future for ALL.
Respectfully,
Christopher Menges, CPFS, QBHA
