Notice: Airfield Lighting & Signage Improvements Project Construction Schedule

Huerfano County expects to begin the Airfield Lighting & Signage Improvements project at the Spanish Peaks Airfield later this month.  The Contractor, Electrical Excellence, has provided their anticipated construction schedule for the airport, which contains three (3) total phases over a total of 28 calendar days beginning on Monday May 19^th, 2025.  In addition to this notice, the County will be posting NOTAMs as directed by the project engineer and contractor.  The anticipated project schedule is as follows:

Construction Start: May 19^th, 2025

• Phase 3A
  • Closure Area: Taxiway A2
  • Closure Dates: May 19^th to May 22^nd
• Phase 2
  • Closure Area: Runway 9-27, Runway 2-20, Taxiway A1, & Taxiway A2
  • Closure Dates: June 2^nd to June 6^th
• Phase 3B
  • Closure Area: Taxiway A1 & Runway 2-20
  • Closure Dates:
    • Taxiway A1 – June 9^th to June 13^th
    • Runway 2-20 – June 9^th to June 10^th

Construction Completion: June 13^th, 2025
