To the citizens of Huerfano County.
In recent days a Vendor Printer Error was discovered.
Due to this vendor print error some of the ballots that were received in the mail have a damaged timing mark. This causes a ballot scan issue.
We have a process in place to make sure every ballot is scanned and every vote is counted.
This did not impact all ballots nor does it impact the intent of the voter!
Rest assured that we have a process in place for those that have a scanner issue.
The vendor met with my staff and myself (Erica Vigil) in person to apologize and explain that this was not an IT, Mechanical or ballot issue that resulted on our end, but at the printer vendor Fort Orange Press. There will be an additional future release explaining in further detail from the Vendor.
This is not just a Huerfano County issue; this is a vendor issue that did affect other counties.
Every ballot returned is being processed.
