The Board of County Commissioners has received lots of outreach from community members regarding the Cuchara Mountain Park. It is encouraging and exciting to hear from so many people who enjoy and care for the Park. We have noticed some concerns repeated in these communications that we want to clarify.
We want to be very clear, the Cuchara Mountain Park is not for sale. It will remain a County Park operated for the use of County residents, visitors, and guests.
The County is making good progress towards the next step in the process for Solicitation 2023-08, a request for proposals to find an operator/concessionaire for Cuchara Mountain Park. That next step is a 30 day public comment period and we are looking forward to hearing feedback about the proposals under consideration. The public comment period will include at least one public meeting. The time and date of that public meeting will be posted on the County website and County social media.
The Board of County Commissioners will only make a decision in a public meeting after the close of the public comment period.
We encourage community members to contact the Board, the County Administrator, and/or attend our meetings, which are held every Tuesday at 10AM. Agendas and information to attend virtually are posted on the County website, www.huerfano.us.
