We are excited to announce that Huerfano County is updating its 2017 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). We would like to invite you to join us in this important process as a member of the Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee (HMPC). Your participation is essential to ensure that all hazard data, information, and mitigation projects are included in this update.
To begin the update process, we will hold a Project Kickoff Meeting on May 1st, 2023 to explain the update process, roles, responsibilities, and participation needs for all HMPC members and adopting jurisdictions, as well as the hazards that affect Huerfano County. We strongly encourage your attendance at this meeting!
The primary goal of the HMP is to reduce the impacts of natural and man-made hazards to the citizens, property, and critical infrastructure in the County. In order to be eligible for certain pre- and post-disaster mitigation funding, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires that local governments have a FEMA-approved HMP in place.
